GREIFENBERG – Today Joseph Hilger, formerly Deputy Head of Government and State Minister of Foreign Affairs under Michael Geiger, was sworn in as the new Head of Government following Geiger’s resignation in the wake of the “Kellett Affair.” A government spokesman stated that Hilger will also retain his foreign affairs portfolio.

The Greifenberg State Police (GSP) investigation into the “Kellett affair” is continuing in an effort to determine if there are others involved. Asked to comment on the incident, Hilger stated: “We simply are not used to such intrigue and skullduggery in the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg. It is unfortunate that those who oppose the government’s policies have felt the need to act in such an irresponsible manner. They have only succeeded in their own undoing.”

When asked if others were involved in the affair, Mr. Hilger replied: “I have been informed by the police that their investigation is continuing. It would be inappropriate for me to comment on such matters at this time.” Asked specifically whether or not the government of another micronation was involved in the incident, Mr. Hilger refused to comment other than to say that the GSP had the necessary authority to investigate all leads in the case. He then added: “I would like to say that if others are involved – whether they are citizens of the grand duchy or not – we will get to the bottom of this matter.”
