GREIFENBERG – Joseph Hilger, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign and Micronational Affairs, has announced the appointment of Dr. Gerard Huiting as the Honorary Consul for the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg to the Kingdom of Belgium.

On announcing the appointment, Mr. Hilger stated that “the Government of the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg is pleased to appoint an honorary consul in Belgium especially a well-respected professional of Dr. Huiting’s standing.” Dr. Huiting, an acupuncturist by training, will serve as honorary consul to represent the interests of the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg and its people in the Kingdom of Belgium. As such, he will be responsible for promoting investment, trade, social and cultural exchanges, as well as broader political and diplomatic relations between Belgium and Greifenberg. For the present time, in addition to his duties in Belgium, Dr. Huiting will also represent Greifenberg in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Dr. Huiting’s appointment marks the first time the Government has appointed an honorary consul in Belgium and reflects the policy of expanding and strengthening the relations between the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg and Belgium, as well as an outreach to the continent of Europe as a whole. Traditionally, Greifenberg has used the institution of honorary consuls sparingly and Dr. Huiting’s appointment is seen as a first phase of the Minister of State’s Enhanced Representation Initiative, a program designed to expand Greifenberg's the network of honorary consulates around the world in order to develop and enhance greater links for trade and investment, culture, education, and community development.
Mr. Hilger congratulated Honorary Consul Dr. Huiting on his appointment and wished him every success in contributing to friendship between Greifenberg and Belgium.
Contact details for the honorary consul will be announced shortly, as soon as an office has been set up.
