GREIFENBERG (GPA) Increased bilateral cooperation with Molossia, as well as an increased presence for the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg in intermicronational affairs was high on the agenda during HRH Grand Duke Paul's official State Visit to the Republic of Molossia on 21 April.
Upon arrival in Molossia, HRH Grand Duke Paul was greeted by His Excellency, President Baugh, in a red carpet ceremony. Following the official greeting, the Molossian head of state escorted HRH to Republic Square, where official photos of the visit were taken. Following this, President Baugh escorted HRH Grand Duke Paul on a tour of Molossia.
Following the conclusion of the tour, HRH Grand Duke Paul and President Baugh met for about two hours in Molossia’s famed Norton Park, discussing matters of both micronational and intermicronational importance. HRH Grand Duke Paul stated that the meeting served as “a chance for the two of us to get to know each other and to gain a better appreciation of political, economic, and social issues affecting our respective nations.”
During the Norton Park discussions, HRH Grand Duke Paul raised the possibility of resuscitating the League of Small Nations (LSN), an intermicronational organization dedicated to the advancement of landed micronations. HRH has been a vocal proponent of Greifenberg’s involvement in the LSN and has long held that a concerted effort to give the organization new purpose and direction would serve to advance and promote the organization itself as well as its member states. President Baugh seemed pleased with the idea of a rededicated and reinvigorated LSN and the two heads of state spent much of the day discussing the various aspects of this organization.
Following the morning meeting in Norton Park, HRH Grand Duke Paul and President Baugh travelled to nearby Virginia City, Nevada, for a brief tour of the city and a luncheon featuring local cuisine. Upon their return to Molossia, the two leaders resumed talks until approximately 4:00 PM MST, at which time HRH Grand Duke Paul departed Molossia, officially ending the State Visit. Later in the evening, HRH and President Baugh met again for an informal dinner in Carson City, Nevada, continuing their earlier conversations.
Several Government ministers and opposition political leaders expressed support for closer cooperation with Molossia prior to the official State Visit and all concerned characterized it as very successful. Joseph Hilger, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, stated that he felt that “HRH Grand Duke Paul’s visit to Molossia was a success. The two micronational leaders reached an understanding on a number of significant issues and their ability to work together bodes well for a long-term friendship between the Grand Duchy of Greifenberg and the Republic of Molossia.”
